The second annual International Drone Day was a tremendous success. Huge numbers of people attended events around the world, and not one negative incident took place. The UAV community came out in their thousands to show that drones are good!
Kicking off in Queensland, Australia and ending in Hawaii, over 180 teams worldwide came together on May 7th 2016. Their focus was on promoting the positive side of quadcopters, and protecting their right to fly.
We had a blast at the San Diego event. Held in a beautiful AMA field we visited the home of the Silent Electric Flyers of San Diego. Organized by Team Captain Jim Bonnardel of Radio Control Specialties, the day involved drone racing, obstacle courses, and a STEM competition.
We were lucky enough to be joined in San Diego by Lucidity of the Roswell Flight Test Crew. He writes about his experience of the day in the July/August edition of RotorDrone magazine. Get your copy now to learn more about why International Drone Day rocked so hard!
If you’re in the UK, be sure to check out Drone Magazine for their write up. This focuses on Team Miniairshow which was led by Team Captain Dom Robinson and attracted attendees from throughout the UK and Europe.
The next big event on the calendar is InterDrone, which takes place September 7-9 in Las Vegas. We are so excited to be attending and look forward to seeing you there!
While you’re waiting for that, take a look at AirVuz for aerial videos galore. It’s like a YouTube just for drones and is well worth viewing.
